Mozart/Salieri roleplay request
Hey there! I've was searching for Mozart/Salieri slash and came across this lovely (but seemingly dead...? xD) comm. I've been looking for somebody to do a Mozart/Salieri slash roleplay with me and figured this was the best place I could ask! I'm looking for a Mozart/Salieri slash roleplay within the context of the play/film 'Amadeus'.

If anybody interested isn't quite sure what roleplaying is or would like a more detailed explanation I would be happy to provide that.

And for me on me roleplaying-wise:

I like to brainstorm beforehand, set out a bit of a general idea/starting point for the roleplay then let it go from there. I don’t like planning the roleplay’s events out ahead of time in great detail as it ruins the suspense :) As for general feelings on roleplaying: I like drama, action, humor and romance in a roleplay. Some darkness and angst is great (especially when it comes to Mozart/Salieri!). I write about adult themes-- sex, etc-- so that's a must. Also, I appreciate longer replies because I like description, especially description of the characters thoughts and all! Absolutely no one-liners allowed, sorry D: And finally: I do not roleplay over instant messengers, only e-mail or private comms. I like to be able to take time with writing my reply!

So that's it. If you're interested comment here or shoot me a message! Thanks!

Anyone out for Britten/Pears?
I just found the community.

I look for Britten slash. Preferably with his Peter. Anyone who would want to collaborate in writing some? I  only found one on the entire net. I can't be having with this! One of my favourite pairings.

Rating: By no means worksafe, pfft.
Pairings: Mozart/Haydn, Liszt/Chopin, Mozart/Salieri, Mozart/Beethoven

I've been meaning to do this for awhile, but because this community seems so dead, it's been difficult to push myself to getting around to it.
Thus, a LOT of the artwork shown here is old and embarrassingly bad, i.e., a manga style back in 07-08 I would never use these days. But if it somehow helps in pushing this community back into activity, I'm more than willing to throw bad art at you all. There's more on my y gallery if you really want to subject yourself to more of it.

Looking for composer slash big bang fic :)

historybigbang is yet another big bang writing challenge. What differences this one from the rest is that its focus is historical RPF. Any and all historical eras and people are more than welcome to be written about. Writers, readers and artists are all invited to come look around. Thank you for your time!

Obviously, composers are definitely included in this (oh god, now I want to change my original plot for a good bit of Chopin/Liszt) so if you're at all interested, you'll be most cherished and loved ;)
I'm sorry if this isn't allowed, by the way, I couldn't contact the mod about whether it would be ok to promote here.

Dissonance [Barber x Menotti]
O1- Dissonance

“Samuel, it’s late. You should go to sleep, and I should leave before Seitz finds me in your room after hours again.”

The handsome, youthful face of the Italian showed frustration, his cocoa eyes hung with fatigue.

The other boy, distinctly American, smiled a soft, absentminded smile in the general direction of his companion. The shadows of this boy’s visage were illuminated by the flickering glow of the green banker’s lamp perched precariously on the ebony surface of the Steinway piano.

“Gian Carlo, I promise it’s almost done. Besides, if ol’ Fritz-y hasn’t notice your absence already, he’s not going to.” Samuel spoke these words without eye contact from his companion- the American was too preoccupied with jotting down various chords on a well loved piece of staff paper.

“You may have to suffer the punishment for procrastinating on your composition project by staying up into the God-forsaken hours of the night, but that doesn’t mean I do! I was a good student and turned it in on time.”

Samuel laughs a melodious laugh.

“But Gian Carlo, when have good students ever made history in music? You forget Debussy was banned from the Conservatoire; Ravel shunned by his patrons, Berlioz refused conservatory admittance and the Prix de Rome and so forth. Mozart and Bach didn’t even attend school. So I don’t want to hear it.”

Gian Carlo rolled his eyes, one of his fingers making its way through his thick tendrils of brunet hair, frowning at its length. Should it grow too long, it would become curly and unruly.

“Why don’t you grow your hair out, Gian Carlo? I think it’s becoming.”

A small hint of pink danced across the Italian’s strong features.

“Because it gets greasy,” he answered roughly, his eyes begging for the relief of sleep.

The insinuating smile disappeared from Samuel’s face, replaced by one of slight worry.

“Do you think Seitz knows? About us, I mean.”

The Italian released an exasperated sigh. “I don’t know. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.”

“Would they…would they kick us out of the conservatory?” Samuel asked, his murky brown eyes with flecks of green seemed to quiver at the thought of it.

It was one of those moments where Gian Carlo realized that Sam really hadn’t had a life outside of music. He was put into Curtis at fourteen, with nothing but a scholarship, a passion, and a thirst for learning. Gian Carlo, on the other hand, arrived from Italy, where he had worked on his father’s plantation. He knew of the hardships of the world, and that it was a dastardly place, and while Sam knew some of the cruelties of mankind, he in no way knew enough of them.

The Italian nonetheless put a comforting hand on Samuel’s shoulder and smiled, his face appearing more melancholy than reassuring.

“I think they’re pretty open-minded here. After all, it’s art school.”

Unceremoniously, the composition flopped from the built-in music stand of the piano, and simultaneously, Samuel found his way into the other boy’s arms, touching his face with graphite-stained hands.

Sometimes, the Italian felt that he had corrupted Samuel, who was so innocent- he knew little of romance, and they had become good friends, and…hell, Gian Carlo himself wasn’t sure of the feelings he harbored for the older man.

An exhalation of breath echoed throughout the silent school. It, itself, was silenced by the rough placement of lips on lips, the fisting of hands in hair, the release of emotions pent away by the traumas of work.

Gian Carlo kissed Samuel with all he had, and as he heard the resounding whimper from his lover’s lips, Gian Carlo’s face emptied of its melancholy.

God can’t save those who don’t want to be saved.

Newbie with fic ^_^.
So, I just discovered this community today, and I notice it's been kind of dead since 2005, but I figured I'd still join up to read what IS here and maybe offer up a little something of my own. So, yeah...um...enjoy?

Title: Offering
Author: Sabrina
Pairing: Gian Carlo Menotti and Samuel Barber (because OMG SO TOTALLY MARRIED YEEE!)
Rating: G. Very, very G. Sorry.
Summary: Set in 1935 during the start of their years in Italy, just after meeting with the Duchess that inspired Amelia e ballo and before the completion of that and the "Adagio for Strings." AKA, about one or two years post-college. Enjoy?

Potential slash -
"His two piano concertos in many ways reflect the style of Gershwin."

And from George Gershwin's side - (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Got_Rhythm)
Gershwin was influenced very much by French composers of the early twentieth century. Upon meeting composer Maurice Ravel, Gershwin asked him of the possibility of becoming a student of composition under the master. Ravel is said to have replied, "Why should you be a second-rate Ravel when you can be a first-rate Gershwin?" Ravel was already quite impressed with the ability of Gershwin, commenting, "Personally I find jazz most interesting: the rhythms, the way the melodies are handled, the melodies themselves. I have heard of George Gershwin's works and I find them intriguing." (Mawer 42) The orchestrations in Gershwin's symphonic works often seem similar to those of Ravel; likewise, Ravel's two piano concertos evince an influence of Gershwin. He also asked Igor Stravinsky for lessons; when Stravinsky heard how much Gershwin earned, he replied "How about you give me some lessons?"

INFOPOST : portraits and random notes/facts about Liszt and Chopin
Below are prettier portraits and pictures of the two composers mentioned that I found surfing around.
Chopin portraitsCollapse )

Liszt portraitsCollapse )

And some notes about their quirks and perceived personality. This is just stuff I gathered in my mind after going through many sites. I hope the info isn't mixed up anywhere.

Chopin had small hands, but according to people, he played as if there were no webbing between his fingers. He preferred to play for salons and private audiences than concerts. He was more of a teacher than a performer since most of his income comes from teaching. He was an immaculate and fussy person, wearing white gloves, and was sickly since young. He coughed all the time. He died of tubocolosis at the age of 39. His zodiac sign is Pisces.

Liszt's music was first thought by Chopin to be 'vulgar'. After his recovery from his slump in music from depression at the age of 18, Chopin and Paganini were later sources of inspiration for him. He wrote a biography of Chopin entitled F.Chopin around 2 years after Chopin's death. He was attractive to women and his popularity was so immense that he had much praise and criticism, some criticism said to have been born out of jealousy. He's Scorpio.

And MIDI plugs of a couple of pieces I like :
Chopin's Nocturne in C# min Op Posth from http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/4279/ Most of you should know this tune from the film 'The Pianist'. ^_^

And Trois Etude No 39 Un Sospiro
One of Liszt's etudes.

And of course, the ever famous Liebestraume - Nocturne No. 3 (A Dream Of Love) by Liszt.
